Chart of Accounts Table

A tree table of accounts where each group is the sum of its accounts, negative balances are shown in brackets and a switch hides accounts with a zero balance. Use this when finance staff read balances by account group.

When to use it

Use it for trial balances, budgets by account and any ledger view where groups are totals of their accounts.

Do not use it for transaction lists (use a data grid) or when debits and credits are shown in separate columns.

Accessibility

A treegrid; the balance cell adds "debit" or "credit" in text for screen readers.
Negative numbers use brackets, not colour alone.
The zero-balance switch is a real switch with a visible label.

Testing

The pattern ships with a Testing Library test (chart-of-accounts-table.test.tsx) that covers sums, the bracket format, spoken debit and credit and hiding zero balances.
