Get ProAn autocomplete that finds items by their aliases (js finds JavaScript, k8s finds Kubernetes), ranks exact aliases and prefixes first and says which alias matched. Use this when people know things by nicknames and abbreviations.
Derived from this item’s props table, because it declares no controls of its own. This item has no standalone playground, so changes update the code, the share link and the AI prompt.
Use it for skills, tools, teams, airports and products that have short names, old names and common abbreviations, so the name people type is not the name you store.
Do not use it when each item has exactly one name. Use a plain combobox.

combobox; options read as the item name, then matched <alias> when an alias, not the name, matched.rankItems is exported so the same ranking can run on the server. The pattern ships with a Testing Library test (alias-aware-autocomplete.test.tsx) that covers ranking order, the matched-alias hint, searching by alias and picking.
