ProNew

A link cell that opens external URLs in a new tab with a hidden notice, and renders unsafe protocols as plain text.

Customize

This item has no props to tune. Use the lens above to change theme, density, direction and more.

Use it for URLs and email addresses coming from data. It refuses javascript: and other protocols, which matters when the data is user supplied.

Prop	Type	Description
`href`	`string`	http, https, mailto, a path or a hash. Anything else is not linked.
`children`	`ReactNode`	Link text.
`external`	`boolean`	Force or prevent new tab behaviour.

External links add an icon and the text "(opens in a new tab)" for screen readers, and use rel noopener noreferrer.
Underline appears on hover and focus; the link colour has 4.5:1 contrast.
