Use it for fields where the right answer is usually one of a few known strings and a popup would be heavy: command lines, tag entry, email domains, search boxes. Use Autocomplete when people should see several suggestions at once.

The input is a text box with aria-autocomplete=inline (there is no popup, so no combobox role). A hidden description explains Tab and Escape, and a polite status reads Suggestion: <text>. Press Tab to accept. The grey ghost is aria-hidden and sits behind the real text, so it respects zoom and high contrast. Tab is only intercepted while a suggestion is visible.
